Roadtrip 2016 Fall: Vancouver - Yakima - Bend - John Day River - Port Orford - Florence - Seaside - Vancouver

Day 27 - Sisters Point

Today's hike: into the forbidden regions of Sister's Point.

Wendy crosses the Isthmus of Doom. Emma is skeptical.

Could this be Dungeon Cove? mmmm probably too far south.

Reminiscent of Thor's Toilet further up the beach, that big hole is known as The Royal Flush.

Of course there is a great sucking sound coming from th seaward side of the Royal Flush.

Wendy and Emma press on for the close look.

Russ and Emma purposely stride across the beach to beach access portal.

You could get seriously wet when the rogue waves strike.

A sheltered seaside residence.

The plant life on the southern Oregon coast is unique and clings to any surface with a modicum of grip.

The waves pour into Dungeon Cove - from this viewpoint they're metres above us.

Surf warnings are heeded - nobody riding these waves.

Of course, it's going to happen. We stumble upon yet another government project. We believe this lever, set into the local tectonic plate, is designed to shift the position of Moscow to approximately the middle of Zimbabwe.

And here is proof positive of Monsanto's hybrid-genetics project to grow steel rebar in trees. It works, but there is still a rust problem to overcome.

Enough government conspiracies and secret genetic experiments! Wendy and Emma stamp out of Sisters. The black helicopters continue to watch, but keep their distance.

From here, you would never guess what's going on down there. The government is counting on it.

Birds go by.

This may be the forefront of our next storm.

Moon over China Mountain.
